VA Weekend Wine Trip? Two Great Events for Wine Lovers
/The weekend is looking rosy, at least for those who get out to taste great VA rosés at The Loudoun Wineries Association’s (LWA) Taste of RoséWeekend, this weekend, April 24-25, 2021.
Think special rosé releases and events from 15 participating Loudoun County wineries. Participating wineries will be featuring a variety of individual events, from a Budbreak Festival, frozen rosé slushees, discounts on flights, glasses, bottles and more!
And the weekend of April 29-May 1? Ready to go to Middleburg and tuck into some amazing wine and oysters tastings at Salamander Resort and Spa’s Oyster and Wine Weekend?
The event kicks off with Heathen Wine Tours & Tangier Island Oyster’s Reception on Salamander’s Great Lawn on Friday, April 29. Wines featured will be:
Blanc de Chardonnay, Thibaut-Janisson, Charlottsville, Virginia, NV

The next day, two events will also take place on the Great Lawn, followed by a special Chef’s Dinner. First up on April 30, is a Tangier Island Oyster Cooking Class with founder Tim Hickey, followed by the 2021 VA Governor’s Cup Winner, Barboursville Wine, and a tasting of their award-winning wines with winemaker Luca Paschina.
That evening, dine under the stars in the Salamander’s Culinary Garden for a fresh-air experience in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Stations will be set around the garden with dishes and signature beverages featuring Tangier Island Oysters, Barboursville Vineyards and Heath Porter, founder of Heathen Wine Tours.
This menu is one that oyster lovers will never forget. Grilled Oysters with Edwards Country Ham Butter & Assorted Toppings, a Raw Shucking Station with fixings like Mt. Defiance Mignonette, Lemon, Carrot Top Chimmichuri, Individual Caprese Salads, Virginia Ham and Oyster Stew, Crispy Oysters and Catoctin Brandied “Cream”, Tangier Oyster Bloody Mary Shooters, Carved Beef Tenderloin and Tangier Oyster Cream Salamander Cornbread and Tangier Oyster Stuffed Chickens.
The weekend finshes with a Tangier Island Oyster Brunch on May 1 at Harriman’s.
