Options abound for local gifts, dining and experiences that any dad will love.

By Susan Able | Edible DC

It’s not too late to get your dad some great gifts that speak your love of local and show your thoughtful nature. Whether it’s something that he can use made by a local craftsperson, dinner in or out, or a present of a plant that will keep on giving to a Plant Daddy, we’ve got lots of great ideas.

Shop Made in DC and Shop Made in VA

The DMV is home to hundreds of creatives who design, craft, roast, stitch, bake, weld, brew and build amazing products and the Shop Made in DC and Shop Made in VA retails stores stock and showcase gifts that any father would love. Obviously shopping there also helps these small makers grow, so it’s a win-win.
Shop Made in DC has 5 locations in Washington, DC featuring over 300 local DC makers. And Shop Made in VA is located conveniently in Old Town, Alexandria.

American Plant

Is your father a “green thumb” kind of guy who loves gardening? American Plant’s two Bethesda locations on River Road are open from 9am to 6pm every day and are a happy place for a Plant Daddy with hundreds of perennials, annuals, tools and gadgets that will please every gardener. Maybe a fruit tree or something ornamental? You can enjoy watching it grow over the years, remembering that 2022 was the year it went into the ground as your gift. American Plant also has egift cards so he can go shopping for something that whets his garden whimsies.

Chaia Tacos

Maybe the perfect thing for your father is a Father’s Day taco party? If that sounds like something everyone would enjoy, check out Chaia Tacos online catering. Let the Chaia team do the cooking this Father's Day, Sunday, June 19th, by pre-ordering lunch or dinner from Chaia. It will come out hot from the oven and ready to serve. Try a tray of enchiladas or tacos, a side of herbed green rice and finish with freshly-baked cinnamon-coconut cookies. Order here and pickup in Georgetown, Bethesda or Chinatown.
