Farm Markets Remain Open - Resources for Shoppers

Safety tips, where to shop & more for people looking for ways to buy local food during the Covid-19 crisis

By Susan Able

At this writing the governors and mayor of DC have allowed farmers markets to stay open. The good news, they have been crazy crowded. And that’s the bad news too—we need to practice social distancing. Our colleagues at Edible Phoenix published a simple list of shopping advice and we have to strongly encourage following it. As appealing as it is to get outside, and buy locally and fresh, let’s stay safe. Only send one family member, stay far apart from others in line and in general, don’t linger, leave your dog at home and bring your own hand sanitizer.

This is a live document and continued work in progress, but the collaborating groups wanted to share this for people who can not shop at markets or live in a place where their market has been shut down. Entries are still being collected from farmers and ag producers. Are you a farmer or agricultural producer and you’d like to be included in this resource? Fill out this form.
