Where Wild Beauty Blooms: Gypsy Flower Farm in Poolesville, Maryland

In the quiet of Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve, Gypsy Flower Farm brings a painter’s touch to the art of growing flowers. Founded in 2017 by Sidney “Sid” Egly, the one-acre farm and florist specializes in pesticide-free blooms—flowers grown for beauty and longevity.

Sid’s roots run deep in petals and stems. His mother, Stephanie, owns Stephanie’s Secret Garden in Poolesville, where Sid first learned the rhythm of design and color. After earning an art degree, Sid returned to the family business—this time to grow the palette themselves. In the fields surrounding a historic tobacco-drying barn, Sid cultivates heirloom roses, eucalyptus, lavender, and other varieties chosen not just for fragrance and form, but for how gracefully they dry and last.

The farm offers seasonal bouquets, wedding and event designs, and a beloved CSA flower subscription program. From early spring through late autumn, subscribers receive what’s freshest—roses in May, dahlias and sunflowers by midsummer, ornamental kale and miniature pumpkins in fall. Bouquets can be picked up at the farm or at Poolesville Hardware, a local favorite. 2026 Flower CSA signups are released in early November and always sell out quickly.

For Sid, farming is equal parts design experiment and community connection. Each season brings new varieties, new challenges, and new collaborations with fellow Maryland growers.
From seed to bouquet, Gypsy Flower Farm proves that beauty can bloom sustainably—and that art sometimes looks best with soil under its nails.
