Steam, Stillness, and Nourishment

Relax at Balian Springs

Silky steam rises over the tree-lined thermal pools at Balian Springs Spa in Alexandria. Guests move slowly and gather in quiet conversation around low tables lined with frosted glasses filled with pale botanicals. Water, light, and air move in a rhythm far removed from the world outside.

The experience unfolds in layers: Dozens of indoor and outdoor pools, dry saunas, steam rooms, clay chambers, and Himalayan salt rooms set at a range of temperatures invite a personal cadence of warming, cooling, and deep restorative rest. Guests cycle from heat to immersion, pause for hydration or a meal, then begin again—an easy way to lose track of time and spend a full day in relaxation.

Since opening in 2022, Balian Springs has delivered an intuitive reset. That sensibility now carries into the kitchen, where newly appointed chef John Watson has sharpened the menu to match the energy of the space. Food moves seamlessly through the spa’s circuit, such as an edamame hummus with a tzatziki board served with a cornucopia of fresh veggies for dipping, Thai chicken lettuce wraps, ginger shrimp and spiced tuna spring rolls, and a hearty blackened chicken sandwich that sustains and recharges after a stint in the sauna.

Drinks follow the same philosophy. At the poolside Dry Well, adaptogenic blends, CBD-infused beverages, and zero-proof cocktails offer mindful refreshment alongside wine and spirits elsewhere in the club.

Leaving through the stone pavilion, Alexandria resumes its pace. What lingers is recalibration—a reminder that restoration, like nourishment, can fit neatly into a single afternoon.
