Win a trip to Puerto Rico while helping Hurricane Maria victims
This Sunday from 3 pm to 8 pm, Chef Samuel Diaz, Executive Chef of Republic and Puerto Rico native, will offer a special menu of his favorite comfort foods to raise funds for Chefs de Borinquen, a relief group he started, and Friends of Puerto Rico. The menu features food like wholeroasted pig, tostones, rice, pigeon peas, white rice and beans, yucca fries, Bacalao croquettes and chicken skewers. Guests can try chef’s favorite drink from home, a coquito, or traditional pistachio eggnog cocktail.
In partnership with Friends of Puerto Rico, the event includes a live band, domino tournament, and high stakes raffle in which prizes include a roundtrip to Puerto Rico, one night with a personal chef, and a ten person catering event, amongst other things.
All proceeds from the event go to Chefs de Borinquen and Friends of Puerto Rico.
Since Hurricane Maria, much of Puerto Rico has remained in a state of disaster. In 2017, Chef Diaz began Chefs de Borinquen to raise money, which he used to travel to the most devastated areas and personally cook food for people who had nothing to eat. Every dollar raised for Chefs de Borinquen goes directly to providing meals in Puerto Rico.
