Washington Humane Society Announces 12th Annual Sugar & Champagne Affair

The Sweetest Celebration in the City Returns January 31

Washington, DC – The Washington Humane Society’s 12th annual dessert and champagne reception returns January 31, 2013 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, presented by Trade Center Management Associates. This event honors our local crusaders against animal cruelty while raising critical funds to help care for the homeless pet population in our nation’s capital.

Join hosts Chef Todd Gray and Ellen Kassoff Gray (Equinox Restaurant, Muse at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and Salamander Resort) as they kick off the event in the VIP Chefs’ Tasting Room. There, guests will enjoy an exclusive savory gathering from 6:00pm – 7:30pm prepared by the finest chefs in the region, including: Chef Gray, Chef Harper McClure (The Federalist), Chef Robert Wiedmaier (Marcel’s), Chef Scott Drewno (The Source), Chefs Christophe & Michelle Poteaux (Bastille), Chef Jamie Leeds (Hanks Oyster Bar), Chef Anthony Lombardo (1789), Chef Emily Sprissler (Mayfair & Pine), Chef David Gaus (Bayou Bakery), and Chef Nick Palermo (Old Angler’s Inn). Tickets are $150 each and include entry to the main event.

General reception tickets are $90 each, and doors open at 7:00pm. The area’s most talented pastry chefs and mixologists will dazzle the senses with visionary works of edible art, gorgeous gourmet desserts, free-flowing champagne, and some of the finest sparkling wines.

New this year, Emcee Tommy McFly (94.7 Fresh FM Radio) is sure to stir things up during the first Sugar & Champagne Cake Walk, where a few lucky guests will get to take home a show stopping specialty cake. This is not your mothers Cake Walk! Pastry Chefs will display their culinary confections on stage and they will be live auctioned off to the highest bidder. Plus, find out who will be the fortunate winner of the NEW Golden Ticket, taking home a magnificent culinary experience. Golden Tickets are just $50 each and only 200 will be sold onsite at the event.

Leashed dogs are welcome and encouraged to attend (no retractable leashes please). All proceeds will directly benefit the animals and programs of the Washington Humane Society.
